It's almost here. It's Christmas Eve, Eve. Well here's a Japanese classical track from "Merry Christmas Mr.Lawrence", staring David Bowie. I've never seen it myself, but the composer Ryuichi Sakamoto also stars in the film.

Onto, part 3 of yule tide tunes. I think its safe to say that Christmas can be depressing for most people. It's the main downside to a season of reflection. So here's a song about just that. Its a beautiful track by Linkin Park, called "My December".

Songs of the Season (Maybe) Part 2

Ok, here's part 2 of my christmas "special". The truth is I hate popular christmas songs. They just don't ring true with me. Theres no connection...I mean how many people have actually been on a sleigh ride?! On that note here is one of my childhood favourites. Its a fusion of electronic and traditional, classic instruments. The album is truly fantastic, its the first christmas album by Mannheim Steamroller entitled "Mannheim Steamroller Christmas". Worth a buy if you're tired of this Christmas no.1 nonsense and want some real music.

Songs of the Season (Maybe) Part 1

It's almost Christmas, 5 days. I realise there's the 12 days of Christmas, and I was going to have a track for each of those days. But to be honest I thought 5 songs that may or may have nothing to do with...Christmas would be fine. I have a lot of things I've been meaning to post, I'll save them for New Year's. A new year, a new perspective. Anyway here is my contribution for the 20th of December. "River" is a Joni Mitchell cover by Sarah McLachlan. Enjoy!

Song of the Week - 24/11/08

Well I had trouble deciding what song to use for the song of the week. I finally decided, and the alternative choice will be posted next week instead. Anyways this weeks song is "The Avalanche" by Sufjan Stevens. It's pleasant folk music with an air of nostalgia, all one could hope for from folk. If you're a fan of Joshua Radin or Simon & Garfunkel, you should feel right at home. I apologise for having to upload to a file hosting site. Many songs cannot to be heard in full on Last.fm...well done music industry! Well enjoy.

Song of the Week - 17/11/08

A friend of mine gave me some music by "Mute Math", and the second track sounded familiar to me. I'd call it Indie Rock, of the American type. Worth a look...er a listen.
